EHN Guardians x NPFBF Bursary Program

The NPF Benevolent Foundation is proud to offer a new bursary program in 2026 supported by the generosity of EHN Guardians.

This bursary award supports those graduate or post-graduate students who are working to advance research and treatment for police and/or first responders with trauma, addictions, suicide prevention, or any mental injuries sustained by those public safety professionals we rely on as Canadians to keep us safe.

Number, Value, and Duration of Bursaries


The NPFBF will award one (1) $10,000 bursary, for a one-year (1) term, to support a graduate student (Master’s or Doctoral). The bursary will fund research focused on policing and public safety personnel mental health, including trauma, trauma treatment and recovery, and suicide prevention.


Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • Are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada; or have proof of status as a Protected Person from Immigration and Citizenship Canada (claimant are not eligible to apply).
  • Are planning to start or continue full-time or part-time postgraduate studies (Master’s or Doctoral program) for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Are in good academic standing with your university.
  • Conduct research that has the potential to improve the mental health of policing and public safety personnel.
  • Exhibit potential for a high-impact research proposal in any area of mental health specific to the experiences of policing and/or public safety personnel in Canada; including, any form of depression, suicide prevention, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, moral and sanctuary trauma.
