The Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorology Awards

The Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorology Awards aim to increase awareness of the atmospheric sciences and meteorology professions among Canadian students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program at Canadian post-secondary institutions offering degrees in Atmospheric Sciences and/or Meteorology.

Number, Value, and Duration of Scholarships

6 scholarships, each valued at $10,000 CAD, are available to students enrolling in a Meteorology Certificate/Diploma program at one of the designated institutions:

  • University of British Columbia (UBC): Diploma in Meteorology
  • York University: Certificate of Meteorology
  • McGill University: Diploma in Meteorology
  • Dalhousie University: Diploma in Meteorology
  • Université du Québec à Montréal : Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées en météorologie

8 scholarships, each valued at $6,000 CAD, are available to students currently enrolled in an Atmospheric Sciences degree program. Recipients of this award may reapply for a maximum of one additional year, provided they remain registered in an Atmospheric Sciences degree program or Meteorology Certificate/Diploma program at one of the designated institutions:

  • University of Manitoba: BSc in Physical Geography with a concentration in Atmosphere & Hydrological Sciences
  • University of British Columbia (UBC): BSc Major or Honours in Atmospheric Science
  • York University: Honours BSc in Earth and Atmospheric Science, concurrent with a Certificate of Meteorology
  • McGill University: BSc in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
  • Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM): Baccalauréat en sciences de la Terre et de l’atmosphère with a concentration in sciences de l’atmosphère (Météo et climat)

6 scholarships, each valued at $5,000 CAD, are available to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program. Recipients of this award may reapply for a maximum of one additional year, provided they register in an Atmospheric Sciences degree program or Meteorology Certificate/Diploma program at one of the designated institutions:

  • University of Manitoba: BSc in Physical Geography with a specialization in the Atmospheric Science Stream
  • University of British Columbia (UBC): BSc Major or Honours in Atmospheric Science
  • York University: Honours BSc in Earth and Atmospheric Science
  • McGill University: BSc in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
  • Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM): Baccalauréat en sciences de la Terre et de l’atmosphère with a concentration in Sciences de l’atmosphère (Météo et climat)
  • Dalhousie University: BSc in Physics, concurrent with a Diploma in Meteorology


You are eligible if you:

  • are planning to start a Meteorology Certificate/Diploma program.
  • are planning to continue full time studies in an Atmospheric Science degree program, or re-lated program with a specialization in Atmospheric Science.
  • are planning to continue full-time studies in a Bachelor of Science.
