Number, Value, and Duration of Bursaries
NPF Member Child Bursary
The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation (NPFBF) is proud to provide financial assistance to the children of active NPF Members across Canada through the NPF Member Child Bursary.
One (1) non-renewable bursary, valued at $5000 Canadian for one year, is available to eligible children of active NPF members who have shown exceptional leadership, compassion and support for their community.
NPF Spousal Bursary
The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation (NPFBF) is proud to offer bursaries to support the spouses of Members of the National Police Federation (NPF) who are pursuing in-person, online, or distance-studies for post-secondary education in the form of a one-time bursary. The function of this bursary is to support spouses who must establish a new career or enhance their professional development, as a result of an RCMP relocation.
Three (3) non-renewable bursaries, valued at $2500 Canadian for one year, are available to eligible spouses of active, registered NPF Members, residing in the following regions: Pacific/North, Prairie and Atlantic/Central. The bursaries will be awarded as follows:

- One (1) bursary will be awarded to a spouse from the Prairie Region.
- One (1) bursary will be awarded to a spouse from the Atlantic/Central region.
Eligibility
NPF Member Child Bursary:
- are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- are the child of an active NPF Member, born within or outside of marriage, including an adopted child.
- are between the ages of 17 and 25 years old at the time of the application deadline.
- are planning to start or continue full-time studies at an accredited post-secondary institution (i.e., university, college, or polytechnic institute).
- have a minimum cumulative average of 70% or equivalent over the last three (3) terms of available marks. (Non-academic courses, such as career or personal development related courses, will not be considered.)
- are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- are the child of an active NPF Member, born within or outside of marriage, including an adopted child, or are the spouse of an active, registered NPF Member. The legal definition of “spouse” as defined by the Government of Canada, means:
- “Married’ means that you have a spouse who is an active, registered National Police Federation Member.
- ‘Living common-law’ means that you are living in a conjugal relationship with a person who is not your married spouse, and at least one of the following conditions applies:
- The person has been living with you in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 continuous months;
- The person is the parent of your child by birth or adoption;
- The person has custody and control of your child (or had custody and control immediately before the child turned 19 years of age) and your child is wholly dependent on them for support.
- are planning to start or continue full-time studies at an accredited post-secondary institution (i.e., university, college, or polytechnic institute), if applying as the child of a NPF Member.
