The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation (NPFBF) is proud to offer bursaries providing financial assistance to post-secondary students across Canada who are pursuing jobs in a field related to, or in, Public Safety.

Number, Value, and Duration of Bursaries

The National Gordon Clarke Bursary

Gordon Clarke served as a dedicated Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and led an exemplary career serving Canadians in various capacities for over 60 years. Originally from New Brunswick, Gordon began his career with the RCMP in 1957, serving faithfully with many well-deserved and regular promotions. You are encouraged to read more about Gordon Clarke here, and understand the many reasons why the NPFBF is proud to honour his legacy, leadership, and invaluable contributions to our Members and Canadians with this award.

One non-renewable scholarship, valued at $5000 Canadian for one year, is available to eligible students anywhere in Canada that demonstrate exceptional leadership, academic excellence, compassion and support for their community.

The Regional Bursaries

Twelve (12) non-renewable bursaries, valued at $2500 Canadian for one year, are available to eligible students from the following regions: Pacific/North, Prairie, and Atlantic/Central. These bursaries are awarded as follows:

  • Four (4) bursaries awarded to students from the Pacific/North Region.
  • Four (4) bursaries awarded to students from the Prairie Region.
  • Four (4) bursaries awarded to students from the Atlantic/Central Region.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • are planning to start or continue full-time studies in a field in or related to Public Safety in the 2024-2025 academic year. A list of acceptable fields of study / program can be found on page 2 of the program guidelines.
  • have a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent over the last three (3) terms of available marks to be considered for the National Gordon Clarke Bursary and a minimum cumulative average of 70% or equivalent over the last three (3) terms of available marks to be considered for the Regional Bursaries. (Non-academic courses, such as career or personal development related courses, will not be considered.)
