January 27- March 12: The current RBC Ignite Scholarship 2026 application period may close early if all available funds are awarded before the deadline of 1pm on March 12, 2026.
If your course starts August 6, apply in the next application period: August 6- September 17. The application period may close early if all available funds are awarded before the deadline of 1pm on September 17, 2026.
The RBC Next Step Scholarships are a collection of three scholarships designed to support Canadian learners and youth at every stage of their educational and career journeys.
As part of RBC’s ambition of equipping people with the skills for a thriving future, the RBC Ignite Scholarship aims to support youth aged 16-20 with the skills, training, and confidence they need to secure their first job and build a strong foundation for their future.
There are up to 500 scholarships available in 2026, and you could receive $250, $500, $1,000, or $1,500. The value of the award is based on the cost of your course or program and the supporting documents you include in your application.
Who can apply:
You are eligible if you:
- are between 16–20 years old when you apply.
- are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; or have proof of status as a Protected Person or Convention Refugee from Immigration and Citizenship Canada (claimants are not eligible).
- RBC employees or dependents of RBC employees are NOT eligible.
What can you apply for:
You can apply for courses that are 12 months or less, happening in Canada (in-person, online, or hybrid) between January 27 and December 10, 2026. The course must be upcoming or in progress when you apply and offered by a registered Canadian provider.
What is NOT eligible:
- Courses longer than one year, such as Diplomas, DEC or Bachelor degrees
- Full‑length apprenticeships (multi‑year) to become a certified tradesperson
- Online platforms such as Coursera, Udemy or LinkedIn Learning
- Private lessons, tutoring
