Through the Skills for a Thriving Future ambition area, the RBC Ignite Scholarship aims to support youth aged 16-20 with the skills, training, and confidence they need to secure their first job and build a strong foundation for their future.
There are up to 500 scholarships available in 2026, and you could receive $250, $500, $1,000, or $1,500. The value of the award is based on the cost of your course or program and the supporting documents you include in your application.
Who can apply:
You are eligible if you:
- are between 16–20 years old when you apply.
- are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; or have proof of status as a Protected Person or Convention Refugee from Immigration and Citizenship Canada (claimants are not eligible).
- RBC employees or dependents of RBC employees are NOT eligible.
What can you apply for:
You can apply for courses that are 12 months or less, happening in Canada (in-person, online, or hybrid) between January 27 and December 10, 2026. The course must be upcoming or in progress when you apply and offered by a registered Canadian provider.
What is NOT eligible:
- Courses longer than one year, such as Diplomas, DEC or Bachelor degrees
- Full‑length apprenticeships (multi‑year) to become a certified tradesperson
- Online platforms such as Coursera, Udemy or LinkedIn Learning
- Private lessons, tutoring

Note: The program may close early if all available funds are awarded before the deadline.
Winter: January 27 – March 12 by 1:00 PM EST
If your course starts after August 6, apply in the next cycle
