The Giller Mantella Scholarship, presented by Mantella Corporation

The Giller Mantella Scholarship is a collaboration between The Giller Foundation and Mantella Corporation. The scholarship is for Black, Indigenous and racialized students across Canada interested in starting or continuing post-secondary education in English Literature or Creative Writing in English. The scholarship will award $10,000 to three deserving recipients each year to further their education. The program will run for three years with the potential to be extended.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • Are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Are planning to start or continue full-time studies in your first bachelor’s degree or diploma in English Literature, Writing or Creative Writing;
  • Identify as a Black, Indigenous, or racialized student as per Statistics Canada categories;
  • Have a minimum cumulative average of 75% or equivalent over the 2024-2025 academic year.

Requirements

  • Reference form;
  • A transcript depicting your 2024-2025 marks;
  • A 250 to 350-word essay describing your passion for literature.
